Basketball is a game of skill. With that in mind it would be safe to say that the more you practice the better you become. However, just practicing is not always enough. Skills must be developed using basketball training aids. These aids are specifically designed to help a player develop very specific skills, those needed to step up to that next level of play. One of the most important skills that basketball players need to develop is the free throw. A free throw is always taken at the free throw line, 19 feet away from the backboard. The problem with practicing free throws is that when you make one, the ball drops through the net and on to the ground directly under the basket. The player must then walk over and retrieve the ball, go back to the free throw line and start again. Here is were a basketball training aid comes in handy. With a ball return, a basketball training aid that sends the ball directly back to the shooter when a basket is made, the player never has to move away from the free throw line. That is as long as he does not miss! The great advantage of this basketball training aid is very evident.
